Dopo tutti questi anni di problemi e server lenti (Aruba fa proprio schifo) finalmente ho deciso di cercarmene uno nuovo! La decisione è stata decisamente facilitata dal fatto che un mio caro amico, Mathieu, mi ha proposto di ospitare il mio sito sui suoi server superfichi! A causa dei lavori in corso, questo sito dovrà rimanere offline per alcuni giorni, almeno finchè non avrò spostato tutto e fatto il trasferimento del dominio.

After all this years I finally decided to do the big move and get me a new server for the site… well actually a friend of mine, Mathieu, did somehow take this decision for me, since he proposed me to host this site on his server. The site will be inactive for some time, until I move all the stuff and transfer my domain.

Viaggio molto nel web (anche troppo a volte) e leggo molti blog, e spesso penso che una o l’altra cosa sarebbe da promuovere, da far circolare. Prima linkavo post interessanti sul blog di monipodio… ma visto che M! ora è un po’ in pausa, almeno per quanto mi riguarda, non so più dove mettere tutte queste cose.
Ed ecco che entra in gioco Google Reader! Ho appena scoperto che posso condividere i post che ritengo più belli con il resto del mondo… per cui ecco qui beccatevi il mio feed delle cose figose!

Avete mai scritto una graphic novel? Nemmeno io… infatti quando ho cominciato a lavorare a Dog Show, non immaginavo nemmeno lontanamente di come sarebbe stato. Bellissimo e terribile allo stesso tempo. Se c’è una cosa che non esiste nel web sono le cose che non esistono, cioè, qualsiasi cosa uno possa pensare, da qualche parte nel web c’è qualcuno che ci ha già pensato, e nella maggior parte dei casi qualcuno ci ha anche già fatto sopra un fumetto. Trovo così questa squisita guida su come sopravvivere alla creazione di una graphic novel, che vi consiglio di leggere, anche se in questo momento non vi trovate a dover affrontare i problemi del sottoscritto (e dell’autore della storia).

Ever wrote a graphic novel? I did neither. But now that I’m starting to work seriously on Dog Show, I realize that many things a bit different than how I had imagined them to be. It’s great then to find  something like this How to survive writing a graphic novel by Grady Klein, that perfectly summarizes most of the feelings I’m having right now about this whole thing. Check it out, it might prove useful even if writing a graphic novel is the least of your concerns right now.

Random friday night drawing. Ogni venerdì un disegno fatto a caso. Per me per voi, per tutti. Domani nuove cose di Dog Show. Un giorno forse un nuovo episodio di Lux Aeterna (ce l’ho qui scritto… devo solo trovare il tempo per disegnarlo), e sicuramente un episodio due per Monstars 3. Ma intanto solo questo disegno a caso fatto di notte di venerdì. Cos’avrà di tanto speciale il venerdì? A parte che si sente ancora di più il divario tra chi è fuori a divertirsi e chi si chiude in casa a lavorare… come diceva Chris Ware… beh diceva tante cose Chris Ware, più o meno tutte molto depresse e piene di verità.

Ieri c’è stata la prima del film Der Pfad des Kriegers di Andreas Pichler, un documentario sulla vita di Michael Notdurfter, Missionario e Rivoluzionario in Peru, per il quale ho creato l’illustrazione di copertina. Questo è il primo lavoro concluso presso il nuovo lavoro (presso la helios)!

Yesterday there was the premiere of the film The Way of a Warrior by Andreas Pichler, a documentary film about Michael Notdurfter, Missionary and Revolutionary in peru, for which I made the poster Illustration.

The film tells the story of Michael, an alter boy from South Tyrol who is transformed into “Comandante Miguel” in Bolivia.
As an aspiring priest, Michael is determined to use peaceful methods to support the destitute in their struggle against poverty, and for more social justice. At the age of 29, he plays a decisive role in the kidnapping of an industrialist, and is shot dead during the subsequent police rescue operation.

This is the first assignment I’ve concluded at the new job (helios)!

Chi, in vita sua, ha fatto una tesi di laurea fatta come si deve, sa che non è una cosa semplice. Saranno due anni che ci sto lavorando, e solo ora comincio a vederne i primi risultati concreti.

Cambiare tema troppo spesso non aiuta. Lavorare nel mentre nemmeno. E nemmeno l’essere poco sinceri con se stessi e inseguire mete che in fondo non si sentono proprie. Comunque alla fine l’importante è trovare la via giusta, e credo che piano piano ci sto arrivando. Dopo i primi studi, sto finalmente producendo le prime pagine (benché non finite). Let the Dog Show begin!

I have been working on my degree thesis for the last two years now and only since this week I can see the first products of my work.

Sure, changing my subject too many times didn’t help, working to earn some money did neither. And neither did it help to be insincere with myself and seek what I did not want to find. Whatever, the important now is that I am getting on now, and after the initial sketches I have now finally the first pages to show (though not really finished ones). Let the Dog Show begin!
